Welcome to the wonderful land of tulips, windmills, clogs, cheese and traditional dresses! This blog will be about a beautiful week in the amazing Netherland also known as Holland.

Amsterdam

Of course the first location I would write about is the famous and well-known capital city - Amsterdam. Amsterdam is where modern architecture developed between historical buildings and since it is not a big city, all sites of interest are within a short distance. With countless of canals crossing the beautiful streets, fine art, unique museums, and nightlife it is easy to understand why Amsterdam is so loved.

What to do?

  • Van Gogh Museum : housing the largest collection of works by Vincent van Gogh – more than 200 paintings, 500 drawings and 700 of his letters, this is one of the most popular museums in the world.

  • Flower Market: This unique market exists since 1862 and is the only floating flower market in the world.

ree
  • Canal cruises: floating down Amsterdam’s canals is one of the most memorable ways to discover the city's sights and attractions.

  • Rijksmuseum: A fascinating museum that illustrates the art and history of Holland from the Middle Ages to the present.

  • Anne Frank House: A biographical museum dedicated to Jewish wartime diarist Anne Frank.

  • Bicycles trip: Cycling in Amsterdam is a way of life, there are over 800,000 bicycles in Amsterdam and with the city’s amazing network of cycle routes and flat landscape is the perfect, fun way to explore the city like the local.

Zaandam

In this pastoral city you have to pay a visit to Zaanse Schans that holds the best collection of well-preserved historic windmills and houses and is the best place to enjoy they Dutch view like you see in the postcards.

Lisse

In the wonderful Lisse you will find the breathtaking Keukenhof which is known as the Garden of Europe and one of the world's largest flower gardens. Each year approximately 7 million flower bulbs are planted annually in the park and gives you the perfect dutch tulip experience.

Giethoorn

This paradise was probably my favorite location in Holland and is a city that still stuck in my mind till' this day. so peaceful, so different and has such simple beauty that it hardly seems real, quietly cruising with a boat in a canal between old beautiful farmhouses. It is known as the “Dutch Venice” but this name doesn't do justice with it, it's too small and too quiet when the loudest noise you will hear is a duck or a bird to be considered to the live-full Venice. Truly heaven on earth.

Utrecht

Utrecht's ancient city center features many buildings and structures and the monumental buildings, cellars, old churches and the Dom Tower are the things that makes this city so special.

Marken

This village in North Holland is located in a peninsula in the Markermeer and although the wooden houses of this beautiful village are a main tourist attraction I personally have to say that the traditional Dutch wooden shoe factory is the main one. Here you will be able to see how a simple block of wood magically transforms into a wooden shoe and if you want even purchase one.

Extra activities

  • Efteling: This is a one of a kind fantasy-themed amusement park in Kaatsheuvel that offers an amazing day for the whole family in all ages. The attractions are based on elements from ancient myths, legends, fairy tales and more that just makes the experience feel like you took a portal to a magical kingdom. Efteling is the largest theme park in the Netherlands and one of the oldest theme parks in the world.

  • Walibi Holland: this wonderful amusement park that you might recognize by its previous name "Six Flags" is a theme park in Biddinghuizen. Also this park also offers a day full of fun for the whole family the difference between Walibi and Efteling is while Efteling is more about the fantasy atmosphere, Walibi holds the more extreme roller coasters rides, and so this is the address for the extreme lovers between you.

  • Madurodam: If you want to visit and know all about the famous Dutch landmarks and historical cities in one day, or even if just want to feel like a giant the Madurodam miniature park is a place for everyone! It's fun for all ages, for the adults who want to learn about the Netherlands and to see a very impressive miniature park and for the kids that just finds this park as pure fun.

With countless of sights to offer you, amazing food, amusement parks and places to visit, even though Amsterdam got the name of a nightlife place Holland is actually the best place you can ask for to have a one of a kind trip family trip in all ages.
