After traveling around the world for years I decided to write down a list with all my most used and recommended apps for a cheap, safe and fun trip. Of course that there are many many others but I decided to write only the one that I personally tried and loved.
In this blog you will find apps for flights, hotels, photography, safety and more!
Flight apps
My favorite apps for cheap flights and last minute flights.

This is the app I use the most, sometimes the other apps will be cheaper so I always recommend comparing but I love the fact that in Kayak you can see the price of your flight with all the luggage's fees in advanced and all the information is really organized so you will not have a surprise at the airport when you check in. Also I had a wonderful experience with their customer service.

By far the cheapest flight app I know but I can't really tell if it's the safest one. I heard about people having problems with it, I personally flew to Finland in the best tourist seasons for 99$ including both directions including the luggage. The thing that I have to warn that I already said before that don't forget to carefully check the extra fees (for luggage, check in and etc) since here they are not always clear and this is why I preferred Kayak.

An app for last minute vacation deals, not so cheap but sometimes you can be very lucky, we bought a ticket for my brother to Zanzibar for 290$ including both directions and his luggage.
Hotel apps
The apps I always use for finding accommodation

My favorite app for hotels, really similar to Booking.com but if you travel a lot I recommend using jut this one since here for every 10 nights you will get 1 for free and you can spend it in a very luxurious one.

The best app I used as a backpacker, if you are looking to save some money I absolutely recommend sleeping in hostels. Hostels got a bad reputation but most of them are really great, sometimes I slept in amazing places that are just like a 3 stars hotel for less than 10$ a night.

A great app for finding hotels all around the world and each hotel has a full information which is very comfortable.

This app is not only for saving money, you can also find here luxurious places but if you are traveling on a budget, you can easily find really cheap rooms at local people houses and sleep there for ridiculous prices. Airbnb is also amazing if you travel as a big group since you can rent here a very cheap and great apartments.
Getting around apps
My most recommended apps that I use for finding my way in a new country.

This one you probably also know but I really recommend it when traveling to places that you explore by foot, for example- Prague, Rome, Paris and other cities. Google maps unlike Waze allows you to use a "walking" mode that calculates the fastest and best ways to walk around.

This app is just like Waze/Google-maps but the special thing about it that it allows you to download your destination's maps in advance. This option is extremely important since sometimes you travel in places with bad reception/ the data package you purchased doesn't work and this app is truly a life saver.

Probably the most famous and recommended app if you are traveling with a car. Waze will warn you from cops, speed cameras and toll roads.

The best and cheapest app for taxis. The app shows you what people said about the driver and how many costumers they had in the past. Uber is always cheaper than the local taxis, for example I used a local taxi for 40$ when my friend paid an Uber 10$ for the same drive.
Money apps
Finance are an important part of a traveler lifestyle, here are the apps that helps me to keep tabs on my expenses.

Currency: an amazing app for checking the currency in every country and checking the prices in your own local currency. The app is updating every few minutes which provides you the exact information when you buy.

The best app for keeping tabs on you spending. This app is amazing if you travel for a long period of time and want to manage you spending. Also this app is great if you see a non-familiar transaction in your bank account that you don't recognize since in this app you can see exactly what you spent by dates.
Photography apps
For me photographs is an important part of my trips since they are my captured memories. Below I wrote the apps I use not only on my trips but all the time.

If you have a GoPro camera you have to download this app for controlling you camera from a distance, managing your pictures and also to back up your pictures.

Quik: another app from the GoPro home, amazing for editing videos.

Camera connect: just like the GoPro app this one is for your professional camera. If you own a Cannon camera this app allows you to control you camera from a distance like a remote control and to download you pictures with no computer for sharing with people/backing them up.

I always recommend editing your pictures on the computer for better quality but if you do it on the phone I absolutely recommend Lightroom.
Other important apps
After mentioning all the important apps there are a few more that are important to me and I always use when traveling.

The best app for tracking your favorite artist's concerts and plan a trip or just searching which concert are happening around you wherever you go. I was lucky to catch an Ed Sheeran concert in Brazil and the amazing Estereo Picnic festival in Colombia. You also don't need to search, the app alerts you when one of you favorite artists announce a new concert and shows you their full tour.

This very famous app will show you recommended place to visit/eat/travel to according to the filters you will apply. Also when traveling you will see this famous owl on a lot of places as a mark to the grade given to them by the app critics.

In this app you will create a group with as many people you want and you can choose which information you want to share with them. As a person that sometimes travel alone I always shared with my parents and best friend my location and battery level. this option shows them my location, allows me to uses a "Trigger Help button" that in 10 seconds alerts my group to send help to my location in case of emergency and also my battery level so my parents won't be worried if I don't answer. I highly recommend.

You probably already know this app but maybe you don't know the next two features that exist on the cellular app that are great when traveling. This app allows you to download languages in advance so you will be able to use it while traveling with no internet and also you can use this app to translate text from pictures! This option is amazing for translating menus at restaurants or important documents.
Well I think this is it for now, of course I will update this list whenever I will discover a new app and you can keep up with me on my Instagram. Hope you enjoyed and will have a cheap, safe and fun trip!
